East Coast Holiday, 2004

Words & Photos by Peter Crawford

For those of us who attended the East Coast Holiday in Williamsburg last week, it is hard to believe that it was more than a week ago that we left here for the drive south. For those of you who did not attend, I thought you might like to see the picture. In addition there are many more at the club website. As I reflect back on the 1700 miles that I drove and the six days that I was away, one thing is so clear to me, and that is, what a phenomenally nice group of people belong to our little club here in New England. When you spend that much time on the road, you see it all. When Dave Altman had an engine problem at the end of day one and our eight drive, several of the guys in our group spent several hours tearing his engine apart, and found the problem. Everyone took turns leading our six car group. When the torrential rains came, we waited while the rag toppers stopped to put up their tops. And best of all, we ate and drank together all weekend, and laughed and laughed. And finally a real
high point for me was meeting and spending a few moments with Jerry Seinfeld at the concours on Saturday.

Now both the trip and our season is just about over for the year. But what fond memories I have from attending my first holiday. And the interesting thing is, I found the holiday fairly mediocre, but our group, the best.
