Wine Country Drive
On Sunday May 17, 2009, I am going to lead a drive from Bellingham to the Vanilla Bean Restaurant in the northeastern Connecticut town of Pomfret. If you have not done this drive with us before you should think about joining us because this drive goes through some beautiful country with perfect driving roads.
We will assemble at the Walmart Plaza at exit 18 off rte 495 in Bellingham at 9:30AM and leave promptly at 10AM. There are plenty of gas stations at this exit (Hess, Sunoco and Mobil) as well as comfort facilities at the Macdonalds and inside Walmart within the Plaza. Please gas up before departure time.
We will proceed thru a small portion of Bellingham and eventually end up on the Central Turnpike, driving through the towns of Mendon, Uxbridge, Sutton, Oxford, Charlton and on into Connecticut going through the Woodstocks and winding up at the Vanilla Bean in Pomfret for a great lunch. I will not make any formal arrangements with the Vanilla Bean because as we all know they are well equipped to accommodate large impromptu crowds.
After lunch you will be on your own to find your way home and I’m sure there will be caravanning opportunities to locations like the Fall River area as well as the North Shore of Boston. In any event, Pomfret is located within proximity of rte 395 which will take you either to Worcester or New London or Providence.
I hope you will consider joining us.
Regards,
Dick Chiasson
