The weekend following Labor Day, twenty Typ 356
members plus their spouses and guests motored to
Watkins Glen International Raceway for the annual
Vintage Grand Prix Race festivities, where Porsche was
the featured marque. Our group participated in the
activities on Friday which included a 25 mile police
escorted rally, three laps of the track at speed, plus
three laps of the historic 6.6 mile road course
through the streets of town, also at speed. It was a
remarkable weekend with perfect weather too. - Peter Crawford
Tom Gentz, TYP356NE, Tech Chair volunteers as a crew member on Peter Dawe's Porsche race team. Peter hosted lunch for out Glen members at the track on Saturday. Tom believes that Peter is the best Porsche 911 engine builder in the country and is currently building a 2.7 liter motor with Peter at his PA shop for his 1966 Polo Red 911 Coupe restoration.
