On Saturday, May 16, 2009 there were 24 member/guests that visited KTR Racing in Ayer, Mass. Dave and Judy Willard led a spirited 356 drive from Boston area to KTR. It was a wonderful drive, and a "Thank You" from the club for planning it. We were treated to an "open shop" format, where members could walk anywhere in the shop and ask questions of Steve Cochran, the resident Porsche expert at KTR. Steve has raced Formula Super Vee in SCCA's Formula C class and began his Porsche career in Rochester, NY.
After an hour of looking at Ferraris, Alphas, Lotus, Jags and Formula 5000 open wheel cars, we were treated to a Lotus Super 7 on the dyno. After a warm up we were treated to three dyno runs or "pulls". The dyno runs were noisy and smokey, but exciting to see how the dyno was able to record the air to fuel ratio, horsepower at the wheels, and torque of the Lotus. There were a lot of questions about dynoing a car.
A big "Thanks" from the club to Steve and Lynne who worked with TYP356ne club to arrange a great tech session.
